NFTs and Collectors

NFTs…A Digital Collectors Dream

Collectors exist everywhere. Whether it be a shot glass collection from Hard Rock Cafe Restaurants around the world or a thimble from different cities we’ve visited across the nation; collections of things, any thing, is kinda; well, our thing. As different things to collect are discovered and created, our interest gets piqued, especially in future thinking industries. Collections of NFTs would be no different.

Progression is not a new thing. Do you remember when grandpa was upset when his grandkids weren’t interested in the social aspect of cashing or depositing a check? “Nah Gramps, let’s just go through the drive thru. You’ll still get to see Cindy. She’s running the window.” If grandpa knew or understood how to scan or deposit a check through his banking app on his smart phone, he’d probably soil his drawers. This is just one simple example, but our point remains. Progression happens and big companies are looking for ways to innovate and adapt or be left behind.

Creating Value with Digital Collectibles

If a company or brand has an item or items for their customers to collect, (think Raising Cane’s and Post Malone’s collectible cups) how more likely are Raising Cane’s fans to go and purchase the collectible cups? From a branding and marketing viewpoint, this is a great idea to create more business. WARNING: basic marketing incoming! Similar to the idea behind businesses selling gift cards, are customers who are coming to the store just to get the cup really only going to get just the cup? NOPE! They’re going to purchase more items during their visit thus creating more business and more profit. Now, the mystery remains, would those customers have come to just get food or did the collectible cups bring them in? We may never know, but here lies our point; creating digital NFTs to collect, for pretty much ANY business, similiar to the gift card concept, could have the possibility of changing a businesses trajectory forever.

Now, as we contemplate different companies that could create such collectibles, there a few things to consider. The companies that are most likely going to find the most success are going either be at the forefront, or create something so irresistible that customers just can’t stay away.

Let’s take a nostalgic trip down memory lane shall we? McDonald’s in the 90’s. No, not Monopoly, that’s for a future article. How about the toys or prizes in the Happy Meals? McDonald’s exclusive Teenie Beanie Babies or the California Raisins figurines were all the rage back then. It was definitely a different world, however; creating digital collectibles, not only for McDonald’s, but for any company for purchasing customers could be absolutely massive. Check out a more detailed guideline we’ve showcased here regarding receipts and what digital NFT collections could look like at a McDonald’s of the future.

Conclusion
